Error Correction Buys You Damage Tolerance
QR codes store redundant data so they still scan when partly obscured. Level M recovers from about 15 percent damage and suits most screen and paper uses. Level H recovers from about 30 percent and is what makes a centre logo possible. Higher correction means a denser code, so raise it only when the code will be printed on something that gets handled, folded, or wet.
Print Size and Contrast Decide Whether It Scans
Print at 2.5 cm square or larger for reliable scanning at normal phone distance, and scale up as the expected scanning distance grows. Keep a quiet margin of clear space around the code, and keep dark modules on a light background. Inverted codes, low-contrast colour pairs, and codes printed over busy photographs are the usual reasons a code fails in the field.
Test Before You Print a Thousand
Scan the final file with more than one phone before committing it to packaging, signage, or a print run. A code that works on the screen you designed it on can still fail after being resized by a printer or placed on a textured surface. This is a five-minute check that prevents an expensive reprint.
